What are the warmest fabrics for a winter coat?

I am planning on buying a warm coat for winter. I want one with the warmest fabric. I just don’t know which fabric it is:
Velvet, wool, etc…?

And do you have any suggestions for buying a winter coat?

Wool is generally the best, which is why a lot of winter jackets are made with the fabric.

down, or sheepskin but thats really expensive.

Go to Abercrombie and Fitch or Hollister, their coats are really cute and EXTREMELY warm. nOrdstroms and Macy’s have realy high quality coats also.

I would say that wool is the best and warmest consistently.
Macy’s has a lot of great coats! I just went there today and bought a nice wool coat. They are having sales as well!

Fleece inside the fabric. I don’t know if the fabric makes a differnce, but fleece coats are the warmest!

A long coat that has waterproof material on the outside and down filled on the inside. It’s toasty warm. I wore one in the coldest part of China where your eyelid and nose openings froze together if you didn’t cover them.

By far (to date) WOOL keeps the warmest "seal."

Cotton does offer a COMFORTABLE (to the touch) feel.

I try to wear woolen coats during the bitter cold snaps and cotton during the less cold.

Two possibilities. Wool with a good quality thermo lining looks dressy and is very warm. And if it gets really cold, get one that goes mid calf to keep your legs warm.

For more casual look, get a microfiber with down lining.

Well fleece or sherpa wool is most likely the warmest you can wear but if you have a nice bulky coat with fleece and wool and sherpa fleece in 3 layers you could last up to -50 maybe. Depends on how much fat you have on your body really, skinny people tend to get colder more so don’t buy a coat that is nice looking but really crapy, like from china or something. Get a coat thats a good solid colour thats green or orange with wool or sherpa wool or fleece. Fleece is probaly the warmest though.

It should be stylish, light weight, with draw strings, zip up front with outer buttons for extra to cover over zipper.
But it’s a might noisy when moving about.
Perhaps a soft long over coat made of mohair.
You may want to purchase a small (aerosol) can of rain-repellent.
