Can my financial aid be split up into two quarters for winter and spring?

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

I only have financial aid left for the upcoming winter quarter and was planning on going full time in the winter. I need to take a class in the spring as well and was wondering if I could be able to get the financial aid split to cover part time for winter quarter and part time for spring instead of just full time for Winter. Any feedback from someone with experience in this would be appreciated. Thank you.

I’m assuming that you’re at the lifetime limit for the Pell since you’re only eligible to receive financial aid this winter. If that’s the case, no it cannot be split. However, if you receive a refund, you can save the money and use it for the spring quarter. If you haven’t reached your lifetime limit of federal stafford loans, you could still take out a student loan for the spring quarter.

Dehumidifier during the winter months, do I need to run it in my basement?

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

I live in the NorthEast of the United States. During the summer I run my dehumidifier in my basement 24/7 and I have to empty it twice a day. As the winter is setting in I notice I hardly get any water in the dehumidifier. Should I continue to run it or just run a fan in the basement, to move the air around.

I would at the end of winter when the snow is about to melst beacuse that is when the moisture really hits the air.

What should i do to get my bonsai tree ready for winter?

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

I have 3 maple bonsai trees and this is the first winter i’ve owned them. when i got them they were already growing wild for a couple of seasons, i think. what should i do for the winter? should i water them in the winter? do i have to put the pot under some hay to keep it warm? should i add fertalizer to them? should i transplant before winter?

This is an excellent question! I love bonsai trees, the bigger the better. I’ve noticed that there are other trees that resemble bonsai on a much larger scale.
How tall is your bonsai?

To answer your question:

Climate-

Outdoor bonsai are deciduous trees that require the same climate changes in spring, summer, fall, and winter as full-sized trees of the same species. As a rule, deciduous bonsai do well in regions with humidity levels of 50% to 75% and yearly temperature ranges of 20 to 100 degree F. During winter, deciduous bonsai must remain outdoors. This period of dormancy is essential–without it, the tree may become unhealthy and susceptible to disease. Protect or "heel-in" your bonsai by covering the pot and soil with pine needles or mulch. Place the tree against a wall to shield it from extreme winds. Outdoor bonsai are more vulnerable to extreme cold than full-size trees and should be moved to a garage, shed, cold frame, or basement when temperatures fall below 20 degrees F.

Soil and fertilizer

Bonsai trees spend years in the same soil and eventually deplete the available nutrients. Providing supplemental nutrition is essential for a healthy tree. Most water soluble and time-released fertilizers work well when used as directed.

This video was inspired by beautiful winter landscapes. The look evokes a snow eye with delicate snowflakes on the lashes. The snow flake design is optional, something fun, but the look is beautiful without it.

I used a hot hair dryer to fake the wind. My face was burning and I’m in Florida so the scarf and hoodie was not the best choice. It was hard to act cold haha. The fur is faux, not real. I’m not a fan of fur.

My girlfriend keeps coughing during the winter what can I do?

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

Every winter, she starts coughing. The cough lasts all throughout winter season. She doesn’t cough any other time of the year. It’s more like a coughing fits, some times it’s so bad you can’t get a word in edge wise to ask her if she’s ok. She discribes it as a tingling sensation inside her through which in turn makes her start to cough. Can anyone tell me what I might be able to do to help her?

Guy’s right , try honey or honey based meds. Broncolin is the best. If you can’t find it, Lay her down use Vick’s on her chest and throat and rub thoroughly (be civil and mindful, respect your woman of course.) Then cover her with an extra blanket for the night.

Is it ok to start university in the Winter?

Monday, May 24th, 2010

I’m a high school student and I plan on going to York University. Due to some bad advice I have been worrying if I will get into York for the Fall so I’m planning on starting in the Winter, the Winter term at York starts in January. My question is will it be harder for me to adjust to university starting in the Winter? I know most of my friends who are starting in the fall but is starting in the Winter all that bad?

Not at all. it maybe be a little tough at first, but you’ll get into the swing of things and how it all works. I wouldn’t be worried about it.

What is appropriate winter church attire for a newborn?

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

I have a 7 week old baby girl. Most dresses for her size are short sleeved and tights do not fit her yet so I was wondering if dressy sleepers are okay. We live in Arkansas so fall and winter can get chilly for us.

I’m with danielle. Don’t worry about frilly outfits. Just dress her comfortably. Something that can allow you quick easy access in case you need to change her diaper.
