For an expert skier, are there any places worth going to? What is the level of the terrain and the quality of the snow? If I am used to skiing in the Rockies in America, am I going to be disappointed in the quality of the skiing?
Mt Ruapehu (North Island), Hutt (Christchurch), Incredibles (Sth Island). There are too many ski fields!! An American friend of mine is a really good skier and he loved the ski fields near Christchurch.

I am going to a skiing party as a beginner. The ski round starts at 1 and goes until 5, as the party. This means it exactly starts and end as the round to ski does. Should I show up dressed and ready to ski? Or in party wear (jeans and T shirt) and then change there?
I’d say you should get dressed for skiing. That’s what the concept of apres-ski is about, getting down from the slopes and going right into the pub.

I have never been skiing before but I am going with my church in December. What do you wear when you ski?
I wear a synthetic or a wool/synthetic blend baselayer. (Either EMS Techwick or Smartwool.) Generally I wear fleece pants and an uninsulated pair of waterproof snowpants, and a midweight fleece jacket under a lightweight waterproof jacket shell. I only wear one pair of wool ski socks and my helmet. I normally wear a lightweight windproof glove but keep my heavy-duty waterproof mittens in my pack.
If it’s really freaking cold I wear my insulated ski pants and add another layer on my upper body. Usually a Primaloft vest or a wool sweater…but it’s gotta be really cold for me to do that.
Never wear cotton. Once it gets wet you will be c-o-l-d!

I’m looking for an affordable place to go skiing and a few days of lodging in Colorado. I would like to find somewhere that also has a great nightlife. I’m trying to plan fo 2-3 nights on Christmas Eve through the day after Christmas. Any suggestions?
i went to crested butte mountain last year, i loved that place. its got runs ranging from easy to pretty challenging, a halfpiple, a ramp park and lots of friendly instructors willing to help you at any time even if you’re not signed up for lessons. i liked it because at the botom of the mountain there is a resort (club med) GREAT place to stay on vacation.

I am planning a ski trip for this spring with a group of my friends (mid 20’s) to the area around Park City, Utah. What time of year is the best time to go skiing in Utah? I’ve been skiing in Utah in late March twice and the weather was warm, but we didn’t get any powder days. I am looking for the best time for some good powder, weather that isn’t freezing, and lines that aren’t crazy long.
mid to late march. but i recommend not just going to park city, but branching out a little. there are really good resorts that are far less touristy and crowded than park city, and have better snow. snowbird is in nearby little cottonwood canyon and is my favorite. it’s good pretty much year round.
