Right now I am planning a trip to the Bahamas. This Atlantis resort sounds really cool but I don’t want to just stay on the resort the whole vacation. Is there anything fun you can do or visit in Nassau? If not, is the Atlantis resort big enough were you won’t get tired of staying and there won’t be a need to leave it?

I’ve been going to the Bahamas every year since I was 7 and I’m now 19. Every year we go to the same couple places on the island of Abaco. They’re extremely beautiful and you can find fun stuff to do all the time.

The couple places I go are Green Turtle Cay on the Island of Abaco and we stay either at the Bluff House or the Coco Bay Cottages. It’s right on the cay so you have 2 beaches, one on either side of you. One is more rough and we usually go body surfing and boogie boarding there, the other side is more calm and is perfect for playing around in, shelling, and exploring during low tide. Everyone on this part of the island is local and extremely friendly. If you go there, say hi to Brendal who works at the scuba shop!

The other place we go on Abaco which is by FAR my favorite place is Hopetown. It’s a beautiful little town and is seriously the secret treasure of the Bahamas. It’s got extremely friendly people, adorable shops, good food, and amazing beaches. Places to hit up if you go there are Tahiti beach for the BEST shelling, Iggy Biggy boutique, Vernon’s grocers for some AMAZING coconut bread, and Captain Jacks for drinking and dancing!

You can get to these places by ferry if you fly into Marsh Harbour, Abaco in the Bahamas. And I HIGHLY recommend these places!

Another thing to make sure you try in the Bahamas is their signature soda they make and distribute only in the Bahamas. It’s called Goombay Punch and it’s pineapple soda, DELICIOUS!

However, if you’re looking for the tourist experience, I would say to go to the Atlantis resort. There’s plenty of tourists there to make friends with.

check out www.cheapCaribbean.com…they always have great deals including flight to places like the Dominican Republic. My husband and I went there last year and it was 1500 for an all inclusive 5 nights and flight. the rooms were really nice too. Also, try Travelzoo.com’s top 20 for the week. You can usually get good deals there too!

What is the best reasonably priced all inclusive resort in the Riviera Maya? I would really appreciate any suggestions and reasons as to why you think they are the best (amenities or location, etc).

Thanks!

You question is so broad that an answer is difficult. It depends on your age, what activities you like, how long and when you will be there, what you consider "reasonable"and if you expect to stay just at the resort. The Riviera Maya has a huge selection vacation opportunities.

I don’t personally like "all inclusive" because it tends to keep you at the resort. I like to get up and get out; eating is a great incentive. There are a lot of different restaurants in Cancún, even an Outback Steakhouse.

The "island" of Cancún (the main resort area) is shaped like a 7 with clubs, restaurants and resorts throughout, most dense at the turn of the 7. Public transportation is frequent and inexpensive. The town of Cancún is at the top end of the 7, it arose as the resort was constructed and remains where most of the resort workers live and do commerce. Many tourists never see it.

The Maya Riviera extends north and south of Cancún. Many resorts extend throughout, some more-or-less isolated, like the Moon Palace. Some like the Playa del Carmen area because it is less hectic than Cancún.

We booked our first trip there through Apple Vacations and I recommend it, a link is below, there are a lot of "deals" there and at all of the vacation sites…orbits, hotels.com, etc. I also recommend that you research the various hotel options through TripAdvisors.com I personally like the Fiesta Americanas

Don’t overlook a day-trip to Chichen Itza, a great Mayan site.

Cancun can get really crowded or be super tourist-trappish…if you go a bit farther south you can stay in Playa Del Carmen, a less well known but equally gorgeous setting with just as much to do, plus GREAT nightlife without as many dangers as the populated Cancun…

If you want a great package I have used this one – 4 days 3 nights for 2 adults & it was only $199 plus taxes. If you get packages through a corporate broker you can get them super cheap – try this site & good luck! Adios!

Hello, I’m looking for a good, moderately priced ski resort that is easy to get to and has lots of intermediate runs. Please help, thank you.

I recommend Breckenridge, it’s huge, and has runs that are wide and as steep as you want them to be. In fact, Breck has an entire mountain with only intermediate runs.

Breck is cheaper than Winter Park (another great option, but less intermediate area than Breckenridge). Vail, Beaver Creek, and Aspen are more "tourist-y" and much more expensive, while Keystone I believe is downright dangerous for intermediates (the runs are crowded and wiped off in intermediate areas).

If you’re looking for very cheap areas, Loveland and Arapahoe Basin are great areas, but A-Basin doesn’t have much intermediate area. They don’t have towns at the bottom, though.

Another option is Wolf Creek, in southern Colorado. I’ve never been myself, but they get a LOT of snow there, and I’ve been told that it’s mostly an intermediate area. I believe it’s fairly cheap, too.
