I am looking to buy a women’s burton snowboard. This will be my 3rd year snowboarding but the 2 previous years where only very brief boarding. Last time I boarded I just got the hang of carving. I will just be boarding on groomed runs and on powder occasionally, I will not be going into the park but may pop over some small jumps on the trails. I was looking at the burton troop, or blender, or stigma. What do you think? Doesn’t have to be one of those three.

Off the top of my head the Stigma and Blender are both park boards. So out of those three, I’d go with the Troop which is closer to an all mountain board. However, if it was me I’d go with either the Feather or Feelgood. I rode the Feelgood last year and liked it quite a bit. They’re both all mountain boards. The Feelgood is more advanced though and stiffer than the Feather. The Feather is intended to be a beginner-intermediate snowboard, whereas the Feelgood is intended to be an intermediate-advanced snowboard.

Also consider boards from Gnu, Ride, and Rome. For example, the Rome Vinyl might suit your style.

I know my boyfriend wants a Burton snowboard and I’m going to get him one for Christmas. I don’t know where to start. I know the people at the place I’m buying it from can help me but that place is 2 hours away and I don’t want to make an unneccesary trip because my friend is picking it up for me. He is 5′8 or 5′9 and about 145 pounds. He has been snowboarding for a few years and is pretty good but not a pro. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Burton Custom board is probably the best for him. I love mine.

Match that with Burton Cartel bindings and he will propose marriage right there.

theyre special made by burton for the olympic team. not for retail sale but may come out next fall for the public. other companies make denim looking pants if thats what u want for.

I’ve heard mixed reviews. I want a good answer. Long story short, I go super fast, I jump high, I want a LIGHT board, and it has to give me great pop. I also need a responsive snowboard that will give me a great balance going fast. I want the best of the best in all-mountain performance. What about the Burton Vapor?
Please keep in mind that the Burton Custom X is an upgraded version of the Custom.

I tried all three. Vapor- don’t waste your money. Custom X, and Custom are about the same, really I couldn’t feel or see the difference. when it came down to it, I bought the custom because I liked the look better. the price on the X vs Custom really isn’t that much (if you look for deals). I must say, it is the best board I own (I have 6 boards all different brands, including a ride). I also have a burton deuce that rocks as well.

oh P.S. go with the ICS system, and don’t worry about buying new bindings, they send a conversion kit with the board.

The Burton Cartel is about $100 more than the Burton Custom, but they seem very similar.

Is there a big difference between these two…and is the Cartel worth the extra money?

What about the Custom Mission binding? This seems in the middle of the 2 and a good choice.
I am an intermediate rider. I can go pretty fast and make good turns. Right now I don’t do that much in the park or jumps, but I will soon.
I know that bindings last a long time so I was hoping to get nice ones that will last me 2 boards or so. I’m just worried Cartels will be too responsive for an intermediate rider.

the short answer is yes and yes. The Custom is an awesome binding for its money, but that would depend on the riding level you are at. The custom has a polycarbonate baseplate binding that has some flex in it, this suits low intermediate or even freestyle riders (Shaun White has used them for as while now).

The Cartel has nylon reinforced baseplate and Team skyback, all in all a much more responsive binding with a more aggressive forward lean on the highback, making it a lot less forgiving.

My choice for an intermediate and above go for the Cartel, dedicated discs for both 3 hole(burton) and 4 hole(everyone else) boards, and just more comfortable straps, strap in and ride them and the extra $$ won’t mean a thing.
